The film opens at Twelve Oaks, the family home of Ashley Wilkes,
It takes place during and after the Civil War from 1861-1873.
The story is about Scarlett O'Hara, a strong willed Southern Belle,
But when Scarlett meets Rhett Butler, he is a good match for her.

During most of the Civil War, Scarlett lived in Atlanta,
and when she witnesses the town burn, she fled to Tara, her home.
At Tara, she faced starvation, and couldn't pay her taxes, but
Scarlett refused to accept defeat, there was no-one to help her,
But one man, who was in and out of Scarlett's life,
He was the dashing Handsome Captain Rhett Butler.

Gone With The Wind, is considered by critics to be The Classic
American Romance", debuted at Loew's Grand in Atlanta.
It was quite a gala celebration, the stars of many movies attended.
And the women of Georgia were dressed in Civil War-era gowns.
The Georgia Governor E. D. Rivers declared it a three-day holiday.
Within a month Gone With The Wind received 13 Oscar nominations,
winning in eight categories including Best Picture, Best Director,
Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Screenplay.

Margaret Mitchell, was the Author of Gone With The Wind,
Written in 1930. It later became a movie when read by
One of the greatest Movie Directors "David O. Selznick".
It became M-G-M's epic 1939 film, and won 10 Oscars,
And has grossed the most revenue from any Film ever made.
